For 30 years, Student Advocacy has successfully negotiated with school districts throughout Westchester and Putnam Counties in New York State to obtain the services and supports that children need to become successful in school. If you would like to help us realize this mission for more children, please consider joining our Board of Directors.
The Board oversees the agency's budget and strategic planning, supervises the Executive Director and serves as critical ambassadors to the community. We are particularly interested in new board members who are strong networkers in either social or business communities and willing to reach out to your network on behalf of our mission or have interest and experience in leadership positions. To ensure geographic diversity on our board, we are also interested in new members who live or work in the north-eastern communities in Westchester, the river towns or the coastal communities.
The Board meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Meetings are held September through June. Board committees include the Executive Committee, the Overcoming the Odds Awards Dinner Committee, Finance Committee, Relationship Committee and Membership Committee. We currently have an engaged and committed group of board members who are seeking a few additional strong partners.
