Volunteers need for the Summer Camp is currently for its 4 or 5-week program running from June 05 to August 1, 2013.
The camp is sponsored by The Guanin Center a Dominican, a 501c-3 nonprofit organization that works to provide a higher standard of education for underprivileged children in the Dominican/Haitian community in the Dominican Republic.
The summer camp was developed for children ages 8 to 14, who are critically in need of academic help, with many being one or more grade levels behind in school. Volunteers work side by side with Dominican staff in a group effort that crosses language and cultural barriers to promote the exchange of ideas, strategies and methods in teaching and activities.
Program fee:
Accommodation at the Guanin Center, pick up at the airport, orientation, tour at the Colonial Zone and 3 meals, free Spanish classes, all Guanin adventure activities on the weekend, cultural classes, dance merengue, salsa and bachata, beach time, sports, baseball and basketball with the local kids
1 week - $350, 2 weeks - $650, 3 weeks - $950, 4 weeks - $1295.
