Description du poste bénévole

Position Summary

We need help researching potential donors for our community development project in the Brazilian Amazon, as well as to learn more about each of these prospects so we can prioritize which we go after. This position is a great way to learn about international donors and grants, as well as matching potential donor programs to particular agency programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use the Foundation Center Online (available in many public and university libraries) to identify additional prospective foundation and corporate donors for our community development program
  • Research other public sources of information, including their website to better qualify and prioritize the leads
  • In some case contact the donor for clarification and details
  • Enter the data into our database

KSAs (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) Needed

  • Internet and research skills;
  • Good with Excel;
  • Experience using MS Access is a plus;
  • Experience with donor research or grants is a plus; and
  • Interest in economic development is a plus.

You must be able to commit to a minimum average of 10 hours a month. This is a "virtual" team opportunity which may be performed from home or another location.
Community Empowerment Network's (CEN's) operations are nearly entirely driven by the efforts of volunteers (the only exception is our Field Manager in Santarém, Brazil, who is paid under contract). We are a small organization and so lines of responsibility sometimes overlap, but this provides a terrific opportunity for volunteers to take on a variety of responsibilities and to expand their skills. See How Our Teams Work for more information.
