Mayan Families is a growing and vibrant registered 501.c.3 non-profit organization that provides opportunities and assistance to the indigenous and impoverished people of Guatemala. Through a wide variety of programs that focus on education and community development, Mayan Families operates on the principle that all people should have access to the basic necessities of life. We strive to accomplish our goals through working democratically with the communities we serve.
We are currently seeking a Nutritionist Volunteer for our Elderly Care Program, Milk Program for toddlers and babies, and Preschool Nutritional Centers.
Responsibilities
- Evaluating our current Nutritional Programs and performing nutrionional screenings on our clients to determine their dietary needs
- Working one-on-one with our Guatemalan staff and educating them on nutrition (teachers, cooks, Family Aid department)
- Developing and conducting seminars and workshops that aid in teaching our clients about the importance of nutrition (mothers, families, students)
Requirements
- Minimum commitment of one month
- Conversational to advanced Spanish
- Good leadership and organizational skills
- Must be able to conduct community needs assessments and program evaluation
- Great communication skills
- Degree in dietetics or related field of study; registered dietician
