Proyecto San Gerardo needs English Conversation Teachers to start February or March 2013!
Would you like to use your English as a Second Language teaching skills to benefit small communities in south central Costa Rica?
Proyecto San Gerardo exists to enhance local skills and job opportunities by providing training such as learning English for those working in tourism. Every year thousands of hikers and climbers visit San Gerardo to climb Mt Chirripo and explore this beautiful part of Costa Rica, providing opportunities for employment as guides, hoteliers, restauranteurs, etc to the local people.
We provide free English classes to local adults, youth and children at beginner and intermediate levels, as well as a drop in conversation group. The classes take place in 3 villages: San Gerardo, Herradura and Canaan de Rivas. Volunteers are placed in one of these villages with homestay accommodation and a regular program.
The project is fully supported by the local Community Association and enjoys great popularity.
