Amazon Watch is a nonprofit organization founded in 1996 to protect the rainforest and advance the rights of indigenous peoples in the Amazon Basin. We partner with indigenous and environmental organizations in campaigns for human rights, corporate accountability and the preservation of the Amazon's ecological systems.
We are currently seeking a volunteer Auction Coordinator to manage the solicitation, tracking and organization of our silent auction for our upcoming fall annual Luncheon. This is a part-time and flexible position. The ideal candidate will be located in the Bay Area and will be able to dedicate 8-10 hours a week through the event on September 25th. However, we can be flexible for the right candidate.
This is a great position for someone interested in gaining experience in event planning or fundraising. We are a fun and flexible team of staff with extensive connections in the human rights and environmental sectors. We are happy to write strong letters of recommendations upon satisfactory completion of the auction.
-- Solicit Silent Auction items
-- Manage Silent Auction organization
-- As items come in, track each one on a Google spreadsheet
-- Create gift certificates as needed
-- Create packages from auction items that might sell well together
-- Create a display sheet and bid sheet for each item
-- Create floor plan for auction -- determine location of auction categories
The Ideal Candidate will Possess:
-- Strong organization skills
-- Experience in event planning or fundraising
-- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
-- Excellent customer service skills
-- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
-- A passion for the work of Amazon Watch
