Design your own volunteer experience by working directly with your hands to enhance the homes of clients with developmental disabilities. As a House Handyperson, you can choose from a variety of home improvement projects at our 18 group homes. Examples of past projects include interior painting, pressure washing and fence repair. With one maintenance man for our 18 homes, every House Handyperson can make a huge difference!
To protect the identities of our residents, a background check is required prior to volunteering with us. Our ideal candidate for this position is someone who:
- Enjoys working on home improvement projects.
- Preferably has experience as skilled labor for major home improvement projects (e.g., plastering, upholstery, plumbing, tiling, fencing).
- Doesn't mind getting dirty or sweaty.
- Has reliable transportation and appropriate tools.
- Can volunteer at least three hours a month.
- Can participate in new volunteer orientation on a Saturday morning.
