The Puppet Showplace Theatre seeks energetic professionals to serve on its Board of Trustees and shape the future for this wonderful organization. We are looking to recruit individuals with a passion for the arts, and with experience in Fundraising and Development, Finance, Education, and/or other business expertise valuable for a small arts non-profit.
The Puppet Showplace Theatre [PST] is a Brookline based organization that has been serving the greater Boston community since 1974. We are a very active theatre, with 6 shows every week, as well as workshops, classes, school residencies, evening programming for adults, and much more. PST serves as New England's only year-round, non-profit theatre devoted to the art of puppetry, and one of very few local organizations to provide ongoing programming for young children and their families.
We support the use of puppetry in its many forms, from traditional to contemporary, as a medium for entertainment, education, and artistic expression and, in partnership with area businesses, schools and other philanthropic organizations, we encourage puppetry and performing arts as a community service that changes lives.
The Puppet Showplace Theatre is proud to be ranked as the 12th largest performing arts organization in the greater Boston area based on audience size [Boston Business Journal, 2008. 2009 and 2010], serving over 20,000 people per year.
Currently we have a great deal of momentum, due to the talents and energy of our staff, board, and artists. Our program scope is growing and gaining visibility. Now is a great time to get involved in this wonderful little organization!
Trustees play an active role in shaping PST's direction and represent a broad cross-section of the community. Each Trustee spends on average 8-10 hours a month addressing Puppet Showplace Theatre matters. There are approximately 6 Board meetings per year, generally on weekday evenings. Trustees provide direct support through participation on committees and are responsible for fundraising efforts. Prior Board experience is beneficial, but not required.
Please contact the Puppet Showplace Theatre's Executive Director, Isabel Fine, if you are interest in learning more about the organization and this opportunity. She can be reached by email at executive@puppetshowplace.org
