Encore Fellows in Community Health Centers matches skilled, experienced (15+ years) professionals with Community Health Centers in need of valuable expertise. During the year-long, half-time program Fellows earn $25,000 and tackle a specific project designed to deliver significant cost savings and improved patient care delivery for the Health Center.
An Encore fellowship offers a great opportunity to make a difference, earn a stipend, and explore transitioning to a career in the non-profit sector.
The program, which currently operates in the greater San Francisco Bay Area (including Sonoma county), the Central Valley and San Diego, seeks to match fellows in the following areas:
Financial management
Restructure financial and accounting systems including development of metrics, goals and systems to monitor performance
Analysis of cash flow/budget variances
Development of financial policies and procedures
Human Resources
Set up a performance review system and tracking framework
Assess and improve HR systems (e.g. recruiting and hiring practices; development of HR policies and procedures)
Enhance employee communication processes
Information technology
Create a plan for /Lead implementation of adoption of new technology
Evaluate options for software and database platforms, hosting and outsourcing services, multi-vendor integration, training and/or maintenance number
Strategic Planning
Support review and update of organization's strategic plan
Establish metrics and/or dashboards to guide the organization in fulfilling its mission
Develop supportive external partnerships
Process Improvement
Workflow analysis and re-design, followed by more detailed process mapping
Analysis of performance data for quality improvement, operational changes and pay for performance initiatives.
Analysis and improvement of patient experience.
