The volunteering holiday is a very big business in today's world with many organizations charging £1000`s just to spend a month abroad helping others. But this is changing with the increased use of the internet allowing local organizations to recruit their own volunteers and cut out the middle man and his profit.
EHN is one of those organizations, set up to promote volunteering in Nepal for just £10 or $15 a day which covers food and accommodation which works out cheaper than a real holiday. And it's far more rewarding.
Why it's so cheap?
The cost of living in Nepal is very low compared to most western countries, you can rent a room in Kathmandu from around £4+ and an average meal costs £2 in the tourist areas. Escape from these areas and it becomes cheaper.
And would you believe it if we said that by charging just £10 or $15 a day EHN makes a small % in order to run the organization? It's true; being a local organization our outgoings are very low. The total office costs are around £50 a month to run and the staff are local and international volunteers who help run the office, post these adverts and pick you up from the airport.
This way we can provide quality volunteering at the lowest possible price which benefits everyone.
