Description de la mission bénévole

The Fuller Center Bicycle Adventure (FCBA) has an opening for a Communications Specialist to help on our week-long spring ride from Nashville, TN to Jackson, MS down the Natchez Trace Parkway (March 15 – 23 ,2013).

As the FCBA Communications Specialist Intern, you will accompany and assist around 30 cyclists on what many say is one of the most meaningful journeys of their lives. Over the course of the two trips we will travel over 4,000 miles through 14 states and one Canadian province in hopes of raising over $200,000 for the Fuller Center for Housing. More than cyclists, the Fuller Center Bike Adventure participants are ambassadors for The Fuller Center for Housing, helping to raise awareness about the need for affordable housing for low-income families. While traveling, the team will also help to build or renovate Fuller Center homes and speak to the media, church groups and civic organizations. Visit www.fullercenter.org/bikeadventure for more information on the ride.

Your job will be to document the journey and tell our stories through videos, blog posts, photos and slideshows. You'll also help us build local connections by contacting key media outlets along the way. You will ride in our support van and not be expected to bike.

Specific Duties:

  • Gathering and reporting stories throughout the ride and at build sites
  • Gathering and organizing photos throughout the ride and at build sites
  • Gathering and editing video footage throughout the ride and at build sites
  • Creating short web videos, slide shows and photo albums that promote the ride
  • Maintaining the Fuller Center Bike Adventure's social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
  • Calling reporters, editors, photographers and other press contacts to spread the word and gain coverage of the ride.

Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of social media sites, especially Facebook, Twitter and You Tube.
  • Basic understanding of editing software such as iMovie, Final Cut Express, GarageBand, etc.
  • Basic understanding of journalism principles and AP style
  • An undergraduate (or recent graduate) with a major in journalism, writing, video production, marketing, PR, communications or related field.
  • A strong desire to work in a Christian organization to help improve the lives of those less fortunate.

This is an unpaid volunteer position, but once you're on the ride room and board—and an incredible experience!—will be provided. You are not required to pay the ride registration fee or raise money, however if you are inspired to participate in fundraising with the riders, we would invite and encourage you to do so!
