Teacher's Aid/Assistant for multicultural global school
ASAP - December 2013 (with possibility of extension) Minimum 6 month time commitment required
The Shanti Om school is an alternative education for 12 children from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Based on alternative education models such as Montessori and Stiener methodologies, the school aims to harness the holistic personal growth and development of the children, along with providing interesting and fun educational activities.
This small school is located in Dharamashala amidst the spectacular Himalaya's in Northern India.
POSITION SUMMARY This program aims to provide alternative education and cultural awareness to a group of 12 children aged 4-15 years from a variety of cultural backgrounds. It delivers educational activities, in a fun, playful and interactive way, which teach a range of broader topics that aim to increase life skills and awareness.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible, creative and perseverant person who has a natural rapport with children and ability to focus on their needs as a teachers assistant position. You will be required to work 5 days a week from 9am – 3pm.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Previous experience working with children (references required) Minimum 6 month time commitment required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES Ability to work in a multicultural/diverse environment Demonstrated ability to positively engage with children in an education setting Demonstrated organizational skills Ability to effectively monitor safety of children Demonstrated group management skills Ability to show creativity and flexibility Openness to feedback and supervision
