The Winooski Teen Center serves hot, nutritious meals to teens three nights per week, who would otherwise go without. Cooking and eating with the teens is a great way to get to know them and to gain a better understanding for some of the issues they face.
Teen Center Kitchen Volunteers arrive at 4:30 p.m. and work independently to serve a free, delicious meal for an average of 30 wonderful Winooski children.
Cooking experience not necessary. All meal ingredients and commercial-grade cooking equipment provided.
Currently, we need Cooks for the following days and times: Tuesdays 4:30-6:30pm Thursdays 4:30-6:30pm
We especially need volunteers during college breaks!
Duties and Responsibilities
- Heat and prepare meals per menu instructions.
- Serve meals buffet-style.
- Make sure youth take all portions of the meal the first time through the line.
- After the first time through the line, youth may request anything they want.
- Clean up after dinner.
- Move furniture back to original positions.

Qualifications and Requirements
- Positive attitude
- Enthusiasm for working with youth
- Meet with Teen Center staff and complete Volunteer Application/Interview and review Volunteer Handbook prior to beginning service.
- Volunteer must undergo a background check prior to beginning service.
- Minimal kitchen experience required.
