VOLUNTEER / INTERNSHIP
This program provides volunteers with work placements in Community Projects, Small Scale Industries, Public Institutions and Non-governmental organisation (NGOS) in South Africa, Ghana, Benin, Togo, Senegal, Mali, Botswana, Tanzania, The Gambia, Uganda, Malawi, Kenya and Swaziland. This program provides students or non students, professionals and non professionals with hands-on-experience and helps them to see and understand more about different culture in Africa.Most often these participants are placed with host family. There is an option for individual dwelling. STAESA has very strong partnership arrangements with institutions in South Africa and other African countries in a wide range of fields.
THIS PROGRAM IS FOR BOTH INTERNS AND VOLUNTEERS WHERE PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ARE MUCH INVOLVED IN THE ACTIVITIES IN THE HOSPITAL. PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS ARE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO HAVE DIRECT CONTACT WITH THE PATIENTS AND WORK CLOSELY WITH MEDICAL DOCTOR IN CHARGE. YOU ALWAYS HAVE A MENTOR AROUND YOU FOR QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS. THE HOSPITALS ARE DIRE NEED OF VOLUNTEERS AND INTERNS TO HELP. THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY WHERE NOT ONLY DO YOU GIVE HELP IN THE HOSPITAL YOU ALSO GET TO LEARN A LOT ABOUT HEALTH ACTIVITIES. ARE YOU MEDICAL STUDENTS? ARE PLANING TO FURTHER YOUR EDUCATION IN THE MEDICAL SCHOOL? OR DO YOU JUST WANT TO HAVE A FEEL OF HOSPITAL WORK? THIS IS THE PROGRAM FOR YOU. THERE IS SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE AND YOU DONT WANT TO MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY. An ACTIVITY IN THE HOSPITAL VARIES. GENERALLY YOU WILL BE SCHEDULED TO WORK IN THE OUT PATIENTS DEPARTMENT, FEMALE WARD AND MALE WARD, LABOR WARD AND CHILDREN WARD, SURGICAL WARD AND OPERATION THEATRE. YOU WILL ALSO BE ROTATED TO HELP IN THE PHARMACY AND LABORATORY.

ORPHANAGE TEACHING AND SOCIAL PROGRAM
This an opportunity to work with both orphans and non orphans in an orphanage. You can also choose to work in other close by schools (teaching program) very close to the orphanage. This is a very busy program. As a volunteer in the orphanage you will be schedule to teach in the schools as well and that is if you are interested in teaching. There are always work to do and that make it very interesting and rewarding. We will like you to partner with us to bring smile on the faces of the kids.
PROGRAM ACTIVITIES: HELPING IN TEACHING BASIC AND CONVERSATIONAL ENGLISH, HELPING IN THE ADMINISTRATION WORK , HELPING CLEANING THE ORPHANAGE, GAMES, ARTS, SONGS, HELPING IN THE KITCHEN AND HELPING IN ORGANIZING TRIPS WITH THE ORPHANS MOST OF WHOM HAVE LOST BOTH PARENTS THROUGH HIV/AIDS AND FUND RAISING ACTIVITIES.
CHILDREN'S AGE - 2MTHS TO 17YRS
THE AIMS OF THIS PROJECT ARE: (1) TO LET THE ORPHANS KNOW THAT SOME ONE LIKE YOU CARE FOR THEM. (2) TO HELP PLACED VOLUNTEERS TO ORPHANAGES WHERE THEIR SERVICES ARE REALLY NEEDED. (3) TO GIVE EDUCATION TO THE ORPHANS (4) TO BRING LOVE TO THE ORPHANS (5) TO PROVIDE FOOD FOR THE ORPHAN (6) TO PROVIDE SHELTER FOR THE ORPHANS (7) TO BRING SMILES INTO THE FACES OF THE ORPHANS (8) TO MAKE A GREAT DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF THE ORPHANS

Once Students Travel And Exposure South Africa (STAESA) receives your email, we will reply back with answers to your questions. We then refer you to our website http://www.staesa.org for the application form or we will email the application form to you.
Complete the application form and submit the hard copy through the post and email us the same completed application form at

The application fee is US$75(A portion of your program fees). This amount is paid after we confirm to you that your completed application form is received and your placement is possible.
This amount is paid in directly into our banking account. We can also help you to pay the application processing fee upon your arrival. This amount includes the following (Initial contacts, photocopies, and emails, arrival and telephone calls)

Step 4 Please allow us 1-2 weeks to process your application, match your interest, and come up with the details of your project.
Once you get confirmation of your project(s), your host family (or other arrangements of room and food), and local contact addresses, you should start preparing for travel and obtain all necessary documents (passport, visa) and immunization
