SCAN of Northern Virginia organizes parenting classes in English and Spanish, one evening per week for 8 weeks. We are seeking volunteers to "team teach" the parents' classes using the ABC's of Parenting curriculum developed by the Nurturing Parenting Program®. We are seeking a co-facilitator volunteer for the English-speaking class and a co-facilitator volunteer who speaks fluent Spanish and is familiar with the challenges of acculturation and bicultural parenting that face immigrant parents. The ideal volunteers also brings excellent group facilitation skills and enthusiasm for working with families. The classes will meet in Alexandria once a week from 6:00-9:00PM for 8 weeks starting this Fall.
This is a fun opportunity to work with a team of volunteers to support parents who want to learn better ways of raising their children and strengthening their families. It is a positive approach and a rewarding experience for all involved. For more information about the volunteer position, please call Sam Poyta at 703-820-9001.
To apply, complete the volunteer application at http://www.scanva.org/volunteerwithscan.htm and fax or email it to spoyta@scanva.org. Fax number: 703-820-9002. Training, supervision and teamwork will be provided to the volunteer.
