Program: Generation Hope Scholar Program/Scholar Professional and Career Development
Start Date: August, 2013
Duration/Time Commitment: In the first month (August) you would devote about 20 hours to meeting with Scholars. Thereafter, you would devote about 10 hours a month, for at least one year.
Responsibilities: To serve as a career mentor to approximately 10 Scholars the course of an academic year. You will be responsible for assisting them in creating a professional/career plan that would include helping them identify, apply to, and secure internship opportunities. The plan will involve support from the Scholar's Sponsor moving it forward. After the initial meeting and development of the plan, you will follow up with them and their Sponsor monthly to check their progress as well as assist them in updating their resumes.
Experience/Skills: Human Resources is strongly preferred, but any background knowledge or skills in internships/job searching and/or resume building is will be considered.
Supervision/Evaluation: This position will report to the Scholar Program Manager. Generation Hope Staff Members will be available to assist you in and tasks as well as give you feedback. A formal evaluation will be held after the first year.
Success Criteria: The goal of this career mentorship is to provide concentrated support to the Scholars so that they are positioned for a job in their chosen field upon graduation.
