Description: December has always been a month of happiness, love and a month to share with others. Hope Foundation gives you the extraordinary opportunity to undertake amazing experience during this end of year period in Cameroon by doing some volunteering work with the local community. Hope Foundation with the support of architect students of the technical university in Berlin is planning to build a primary school in Bertoua, East region of Cameroon by March 2014. Before this project kicks off at the mentioned date, we will like to already start preparatory work before the construction of the school.
Volunteers with the support of some local technician shall be doing some hard labour work which entails the making bricks which will be used to build the school. This will be hard work which shall take ay and the afternoon period shall be reserved for other projects carried out by the organization such the distribution of shoes (www.shoeaid.org) Other cultural exchange activities shall as well be involved and weekends shall be free where volunteers can travel around and do some sightseeing!
Social December Project offers you the where you shall not be alone but work with other international volunteers from other countries. You shall have the chance to interact with Cameroon people, enjoy the summer weather at the time and take part in cooking, dancing, travelling and other experience.
Volunteers will arrive at the closest airport to Bertoua located in Yaoundé- Nsimalen International Airport. Accommodation shall be in groups with other volunteers and travelling from A-B shall be through local transportation.
Needs: Volunteers should preferably be aged between 18 and 35 years. They should be highly motivated and have knowledge of English and / or French. No special qualifications are required, just be willing to work hard and put excitement on assigned tasks. Volunteers must be flexible and have social and cultural skills.
