United Communities Southeast Philadelphia is a non-profit agency in the settlement house tradition. Our vision is to empower community-based leadership, build healthy families where children are nurtured and encouraged to perform to their fullest potential. If you are looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity, look no further! United Communities is the place for you. We are in need of academic tutors for our S.A.F.E. (School and Family Engagement) Program to help students with Math, English, Social Studies, Science and Writing. S.A.F.E. is a community school-centered prevention afterschool program aimed at females in grades 5 through 8, their families and the neighborhood in which they live.
Our goals are to:
- Inprove school performance and attendance
- Prevent delinquency
- Prevent substance abuse
- Improve relationships between youth and their families
- Develop positive relationships between service agencies, schools, the community and families to meet the needs of youth
Group activities are held afterschool one time a week on Tuesday between the hours of 3:00p.m. and 6:00p.m.
