Purpose of Position: The Pathways to Employment program (PTE) assists individuals in their job search by equipping them with the skills and resources necessary to achieve self-sufficiency through meaningful employment.
The program includes a combination of classes and independent skills practice time for clients as they work to accomplish objectives towards their personal goals in the program. Classes include instruction in: Basic technology skills for job searching, interviewing skills, resume writing, e-mail professionalism, cover letter writing,and other employment-related topics
Volunteer responsibilities may include:
- Working one-on-one with PTE clients to provide resume/cover letter suggestions, basic technology assistance.
- Logging class attendance.
- Completing and signing clients' weekly Job Search Activity Logs
- Following lesson plans when provided or creating new ways to introduce themes and activities.
- Working cooperatively with adults of diverse culture backgrounds and learning styles.
Qualifications:
- Commit to volunteering at least once a week for a 3 month period.
- Attend an initial orientation with a PTE Program Coordinator before volunteering.
- Be flexible, reliable, punctual, and a positive model for our clients.
- Interest and/or experience in employment services preferred or will train.
- Be willing to work with others and learn from them.
Volunteer Hours:Once or more per week (Mondays through Fridays) 12:30-3:00pm
